East Gippsland/Lakes Wilderness

Nestled in the far east of Victoria, the East Gippsland/Lakes and Wilderness are a paradise for boaters, fishermen or those who simply want to indulge their senses. Waterfront villages of Paynesville, Metung or Lakes Entrance are widely known as the seafood capital of Victoria and where the region's lakes system meets the sea.

Not far from these town centres are the smaller towns of Nicholson, on the Nicholson River, and Johnsonville and Swan Reach on the Tambo River. Lake Tyers is bordered by ocean and state forests as it winds inland to Nowa Nowa.
